REGIS FALLS TO JUMBOS, PRIDE ON DAY ONE OF MIT INVITE

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Regis College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions to two of the top teams in the region as the Pride fell to both Tufts University and Springfield College on day one of the MIT Invitational held at Tufts University.

Regis currently sits at 4-7 overall and will take on Bowdoin at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon followed by a 2:00 p.m. match against Brandeis.

Tufts used set scores of 25-7, 25-4, and 25-17 to down the Pride in the tournament opener. Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) led the Pride attack with four kills and added four digs and two blocks. Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) added two kills of her own to go with a team-high six digs.

Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) led Regis with seven assists and a pair of service aces, while Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.), Sara Casullo (Little Falls, N.Y.), and Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) had one kill and three digs apiece.

Against Springfield, Pride defeated Regis with set scores of 25-7, 25-14, and 25-8. Bliss led the Pride with three kills, while del Rey and Casullo had two kills apiece. Casullo and Bliss tied for a team-best eight digs, and Ramos added eight assists onto her total for the day.

Day two of the MIT Invitational resumes tomorrow with all matches taking place on the MIT campus.
