GOLD AND NOESI GARNER NECC HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College juniors Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) and Vanessa Noesi (Puerta Plata, D.R.) have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball All-NECC teams. Gold was a First Team selection, while Noesi was named to the All-NECC Second Team.

Gold and Noesi helped lead the Pride (15-17) to the NECC Championship match this year where unfortunately they fell to Southern Vermont, 3-0. Regis qualified for its first NECC postseason appearance this year and grabbed its first two postseason wins in program history.

Sara Gold was named to her second-straight All-NECC Team after a Second Team selection in 2011. Gold led the NECC and the Pride with 574 digs in 2012. The junior also added 41 kills and 44 service aces, good for second on the team. Back on September 13th, Gold recorded her 1,000th career dig in a 3-1 setback to Bridgewater State. Gold has 1,403 digs in her career so far at Regis.

For the second consecutive year, Vanessa Noesi led the NECC in blocks with 95 total blocks in 2012. Noesi also led the Pride with 198 kills and 276 points for the year. The junior swung a team-best .225 for the year and committed only 75 errors in 547 total attempts.

Southern Vermont College's Jessica Alvarez (Eagle Rock, Calif.) was named the NECC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, while head coach Josh Stokes was selected as the NECC's top coach for the second time. Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) of Bay Path College was named the Defensive Player of the Year and the Wildcats also took home the Team Sportsmanship Award. Rounding out the awards was Mitchell's Amanda Garcia (New Britain, Conn.) being named the NECC Rookie of the Year.
