PRIDE PICK UP TWO VICTORIES AT HUSSON INVITATIONAL

BANGOR, Maine – The Regis women's volleyball team went 2-1 at the Husson Invitational this past Saturday in Bangor, Maine, notching victories over Maine-Farmington and Maine-Presque Isle, and falling just short against Husson University. With the pair of wins, the Pride improve to 4-10 on the season.

In the first match of the weekend, the Pride defeated Maine Farmington, 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 25-17). Regis was led by Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) and Vanessa Noesi (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic), who finished the match with seven kills and six kills, respectively. Junior Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) had 18 digs for the Pride, and Soraia Pinto (Brockton, Mass.) had a match-high 18 assists.

Farmington was paced by Nicole Osborne's (Calais, Maine) seven kills, six digs, and six block assists. Bridget Flaherty (Plymouth, Mass.) also had 13 assists for the Beavers.

Regis dropped a tight 3-2 contest to Husson in the second match of the day (22-25, 27-25, 17-25, 25-22, 16-14). Noesi had a match-high 14 kills and three blocks, while Pratt and Julie Endara (Boca Raton, Fla.) had eight kills each. Pinto and Brooklyn Beliveau (Weare, N.H.) each had 16 assists for the Pride. Gold led the way in digs with a match-high 26.

Hannah Olstad (Farmington, N.H.) recorded 12 kills, while Aleta Johnson (Milton, N.H.) picked up a match-high 22 assists and Alexandra deHertogh (Cumberland, R.I.) had seven digs for the host squad.

In the final matchup of the day, Regis was back to its winning ways. The Pride shutout Maine-Presque Isle, 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-13). Noesi had a match-high five kills while sophomore Samantha Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) had four kills, a match-high four service aces, and a match-high 12 digs. Beliveau recorded seven assists for the Pride, and Olivia Foley (Andover, Mass.) picked up two blocks.

Presque-Isle was led by the freshman duo of Elizabeth Kofstad (Presque Isle, Maine) and Leslie Theriault (Enfield, Maine), who each recorded two kills for the Owls. Katie Patenaude had a match-high three digs for Presque-Isle.

Regis returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 18 for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference matchup at Simmons.
