GOMES, PRATT POWER PRIDE PAST HAWKS

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College improved to 3-3 in the New England Collegiate Conference and 7-16 overall with a 3-0 victory over visiting Becker College in NECC women's volleyball action on Wednesday night in Weston, Mass. The Hawks drop to 3-19 overall and 0-5 in league play with the setback. The Pride used set scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-11 to down Becker.

Set one was a back-and-forth battle as the teams traded early points and were tied as late as 10-10. The Pride then used a 12-6 run to jump out to a 22-16 lead capped off by an Anneliese Harrison (Holliston, Mass.) block that prompted Becker's second timeout of the frame. The Pride closed out game one with help from a service ace by Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) and a Harrison kill to take the opening set, 25-17.

In the second set, Regis raced out to an 11-4 lead before Becker was forced to call its first timeout following a kill from Domingas Gomes (Brockton, Mass.). The Hawks scored three quick points to make it an 11-7 game and Regis inserted Sara Casullo (Little Falls, N.Y.) to serve following a kill by Gomes. Casullo's presence was felt immediately as the freshman had an ace and served on two more points for the Pride to make it 15-7. Becker continued to fight back as the Hawks tried to chip away at the lead, but back-to-back service aces by Megan Pratt and a pair of kills to end the game by Gomes wrapped up game two, 25-16.

The third set was all Regis as they took an early 6-0 lead and then stretched it to a 12-5 lead before Casullo stepped to the service line again. Casullo promptly served on the Pride's next seven points, including three aces, to extend their lead to 19-5. Regis never looked back as the Pride sealed the 3-0 victory with a 25-11 win in set three.

Domingas Gomes led the Pride attack with a match-high 13 kills to go with five digs. Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) added six kills while Megan Pratt handed out 24 assists and had four service aces in the win. Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) added a match-high 13 digs.
