PRIDE PAWS PAST HAWKS AND BUCCANEERS FOR DOUBLE VICTORY 3-0, 3-0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-The Regis College women's volleyball team tallied wins over Becker College 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-19) and Massachusetts Maritime Academy 3-0  (25-15, 25-10, 25-14) Saturday night at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

The Pride was led by senior Domingas Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) who notched a team high of 12 kills. Sophomore Caitlyn Walsh (Taunton, Mass.) notched seven kills and 17 set assists in the opening triumph for the Pride (3-4) over the host Buccaneers (0-7), while freshman Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) added five kills.  Gomes collected eight of her kills in the second match victory over the Hawks (1-4). Junior Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) chipped in with 15 set assists in the second win for Regis.
Hawks sophomore Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, Conn.) recorded four kills in Becker's 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the final match of the day, which came by game scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-10.  Junior Joanna Slomiak (Brockton, Mass.) added 23 set assists in the win for the Hawks, who also received five kills and nine digs from freshman Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, Mass.) and 29 set assists from freshman Lauren LaVallee (Millbury, Mass.) in the opening setback to Regis.
 
Junior Suzanne Marino (Kings Park, N.Y.) notched six kills in the two setbacks on the day for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received three kills from sophomore Katja Juergens (Boylston, Mass.) against Regis and two kills from freshman Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.) against Becker.  Junior Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) added a combined nine digs on the day for the Buccaneers, who also received 16 total set assists from freshman Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.).
The crimson and gold returns to action Wednesday night when the Scots from Gordon College travel to Weston Massachusetts for a 7:00 p.m. game. Massachusetts Maritime opens Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference play on Tuesday evening by hosting Framingham State in a league match at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Becker heads to Boston on Tuesday evening to take on Suffolk in a non-league match that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
