Worcester State defeats Regis, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-22)

Worcester State University defeated host Regis College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-22), in game one of the Regis Pride Invite on Friday night. The Lancers were led by a game-high 9 kills from Megan Brown (Dartmouth, Mass.) and four kills apiece from Becky Lebel (Millbury, Mass.) and Kristen Koles (Billerica, Mass.). Brown also added a team-high 13 digs in the win. Katie Figella (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Vicki O'Brien (Canton, Mass.) chipped with a combined 20 digs while Joanne Grenier (Orange, Mass.) posted a game-high 19 assists. Juliana Tyo (Pepperell, Mass.) led the Lancers defensively with a pair of solo blocks and a block assist.

For Regis, the offense was paced by six kills from Julie Endara (Boca Raton, Fla.) and four kills each from Domingas Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) and Vanessa Noesi (Methuen, Mass.). Caitlyn Walsh (Taunton, Mass.) dished out a team-high seven assists and added two service aces while Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) added five helpers of her own. The Pride's Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) picked up a game-high 21 digs while Gomes helped out defensively with 16 digs of her own. Noesi helped out defensively posting a game-high five solo blocks.

 

MIT defeats Suffolk, 3-0 (25-5, 25-13, 25-22)

MIT defeated Suffolk University 3-0 (25-5, 25-13, 25-22). The Engineers offense was led by Trinity Leonard (Mill Valley, Calif.) and Cecily Jovjon-Roche (Laguna Hills, Calif.). Leonard tallied a game high five kills while Jovjon-Roche added four. Sharon Hao (San Jose, Calif.) and Jenny Astrachan (Austin, Texas) set the ball well for the Engineers capturing a total of 23 assists with Hao notching 16 of her own. The Engineers defense was led by the strong play of Katie Spielbauer (Lakeview, Mich.) who came up with eight digs to lead the team. Jovjon, Hao, and Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Mass.) combined for a total of six blocks.

The Rams were led on offense by Melissa Griffin (Byfield, Mass.) who captured a team high of four kills. Sarah Arbogast (Chesterfield, MO) helped get the rams offense moving with her strong ball movement. Arbogast recorded a team high of five assists on the game.  The Rams defense was helped out by Colby Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) who tallied a team high in digs with three.

 

Regis defeats Suffolk, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-7)

The Pride were led by a balanced attack with six kills from Julie Endara and five kills apiece for Jackie Silver and Vanessa Noesi. Megan Pratt handed out 15 assists while Domingas Gomes and Sara Gold combined for 19 digs in the contest. Noesi was a force at the net again in her second match of the night, adding a pair of solo blocks as well as a block assist.

Suffolk was paced by a team high five kills from Melissa Griffin (Byfield, Mass.) and three kills from Maggie Hillman (North Andover, Mass.). Jennifer Duston dished out a team-high six assists while Sarah Arbogast chipped in four of her own. Glamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) collected a team-high 11 digs while Hillman added eight of her own.

 

MIT defeats WPI 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19)

MIT defeated WPI 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19). The Engineers were led by Trinity Leonard (Mill Valley, Calif.) who jump-started the offense with a team-high eight kills while Sharon Hao (San Jose, Calif.) chipped in to add 19 assists and seven digs. Katie Speilbauer (Lakeview, Mich.) solidified the defensive side of the court for the Engineers by racking up a team-high 19 digs while Cecily Jovjon-Roche (Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Mass.) teamed up for eight blocks on the game.

WPI was led offensively by Elyssa Dorenfeld (Reading, Mass.)and Belinda Nwagbara (Santa Rosa, Calif.) who combined to notch 12 kills in the game. Joan Porambo (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) had a standout defensive performance for WPI compiling a game-high 27 digs. Kim Woodward (Clifton Park, N.Y.) helped spread the offense by handing out 18 assists. Holly Ganser (Seward, Alaska) added five kills while Kerrin Beovich (Seaford, N.Y.) totaled four kills for the Engineers.

 

MIT defeats Regis, 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-18)

The MIT Engineers handed host Regis College a 3-0 setback on day two of the Regis Pride Invitational. Regis was led by four kills and 2.5 total blocks from Vanessa Noesi (Methuen, Mass.) while Julie Endara (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Domingas Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) chipped in with two kills apiece. Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) handed out a team-high five assists while Endara chipped in with 11 digs and Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) added eight of her own.

The Engineers were paced by five kills from Rachel Hunt (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and four kills and three digs from Tatiana Berger (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Natasha Jensen (Columbia, Md.) added four digs while Sharon Hao (San Jose, Calif.) added three of her own. Hao and Jenny Astrachan (Austin, Texas) combined to dish out 18 assists while Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) added five of her own. The Engineers had a trio of players pick up three service aces each in Tatiana Berger (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Mass.) and Kelly Schulte (Riverside, Calif.). Cecily Joujon-Roche (Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Bunker combined to post six blocks in the win.

 

WPI defeats Worcester State, 3-0 (25-14, 28-26, 25-12)

The Engineers of WPI needed extra play in the second set but still came away with a 3-0 win over Worcester State on day two of the Regis Pride Invitational. WPI was paced by a game-high 13 kills from Kerrin Beovich (Seaford, N.Y.) and nine kills from Belinda Nwagbara (Santa Rosa, Calif.). Kim Woodward (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Alex Rangel (Weston, Fla.) combined to dish out 31 assists including a game-high 20 from Woodward. Defensively, the Engineers were led by 22 digs from Joan Porambo (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) and six digs apiece from Bailey Sarber (Westerly, R.I.) and Nwagbara. Sophomore Holly Ganser (Seward, Alaska) notched a game-high four blocks in the win.

Kristen Koles (Billerica, Mass.) led the offensive attack for Worcester State with seven kills while Megan Brown (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Becky Lebel (Millbury, Mass.) chipped in with four kills each. Joanne Grenier (Orange, Mass.) handed out 18 assists while Megan Brown and Vicki O'Brien (Canton, Mass.) picked up nine and seven digs each, respectively. Julianna Tyo (Pepperell, Mass.) added a pair of solo blocks in the setback.

 

MIT defeats Worcester State, 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-17)

MIT improved to 3-0 in the Regis Pride invite with a 3-0 win over Worcester State on day two of the Regis Pride Invite. MIT was led by nine kills from Trinity Leonard (Mill Valley, Calif.) and five kills and two blocks apiece from Rachel Hunt (Arlington, Heights, Ill.) and Morgan Stewart (Powell, Ohio). Katie Spielbauer (Lakeview, Mich.) led the way defensively for MIT with 9 digs while Sharon Hao (San Jose, Calif.) posted a game-high 27 assists. Kelly Shulte (Riverside, Calif.) also added three aces in the victory.

Worcester State was paced by six kills from Kristen Koles (Billerica, Mass.) while Megan Brown (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Becky Lebel (Millbury, Mass.) added five and four kills each, respectively. Brown also collected a game-high 11 digs while Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, Mass.) and Nicole Hanson (Dighton, Mass.) combined for 11 digs themselves. Joanne Grenier (Orange, Mass.) dished out 16 assists while Beckey Lebel also added one block for the Lancers.

 

WPI defeats Suffolk, 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-13)

WPI handed Suffolk a 3-0 loss in the second games of the day at the Regis Pride Invitational. WPI was led by nine kills from Bailey Sarber (Westerly, R.I.) and eight kills and two blocks from Kerrin Beovich (Seaford, N.Y.). Libero Joan Porambo (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) posted a game-high 10 digs while Elyssa Dorenfield (Reading, Mass.) added eight digs of her own. Kim Woodward (Clifton Park, N.Y.) paced the offense for the Engineers dishing out a match-high 17 assists.

Melissa Griffin (Byfield, Mass.) led the Suffolk attack by posting four kills while Maggie Hillman (North Andover, Mass.) and Hailey Atkinson (Branford, Conn.) chipped in with three kills apiece. Colby Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) handed out three assists while Tori Brilland (North Andover, Mass.) picked up one block in the setback. Giamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) led the Rams with a team-high 12 assists.

 

WPI defeats Regis, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-16)

WPI defeated host Regis College 3-0 in the final match of the Regis Pride Invite. The Engineers were led by eight kills and three blocks from Holly Ganser (Seward, Alaska) while Alyssa Corini (Pompton Plains, N.J.) added seven kills and six digs. Alex Rangel (Weston, Fla.) led the team with eight digs while Kim Woodward (Clifton Park, N.Y.) set up the offense with a match-high 18 assists.

Julie Endara (Boca Raton, Fla.) led the Regis attack by posting five kills to go along with five digs. Domingas Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) also added four kills and eight digs. Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) handed out 12 assists while Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) had a standout game with 19 digs and a pair of service aces. All-Tournament selection Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) had a pair of kills to go along with a block in the final match of the invitational.

 

Worcester State defeats Suffolk, 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-22)

Worcester State improved to 2-2 in the Regis Pride Invite with a 3-0 win over Suffolk University. The Lancers were paced by All-Tournament selection Megan Brown's (Dartmouth, Mass.) nine kills while Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, Mass.) notched eight kills of her own in the win. Brown also helped pace the defense with a team-high 13 digs while Vicki O'Brien (Canton, Mass.) and Jasper combined for 13 digs. Joanne Grenier (Orange, Mass.) had a game-high 18 assists while Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) chipped in with five helpers.

Worcester State was led by Melissa Griffin's (Byfield, Mass.) nine kills and Jennifer Duston's (Nashua, N.H.) six assists. Katie Babb (Manchester, N.H.) helped out on defense with two total blocks.
