REGIS COLLEGE BATTLES ROGER WILLIAMS IN TCCC QUARTERFINAL

WESTON, Mass.—Randi Garrity (North Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) led Regis College with 10 assists while freshman all-conference honorable mention Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif./Norte Dame) had a team-high nine digs in Regis’ 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-13) loss to Roger Williams in The Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinal match Tuesday.

The loss to the Hawks drops Regis College to 9-25, 3-8 TCCC for the 2010 season.

As a team Regis College had 12 kills with Meghan McCarty (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) and Julie Endara (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) each registering three kills. Freshman Vanessa Noesi (Methuen, Mass./Greater Lawrence) and sophomore Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) added two kills each. Garrity also tallied two kills for the Pride.

Along with McCarty’s three kills, she added three service aces for Regis College. Teammates Endara, Garrity, and Pratt helped the Pride defensively adding six digs to Regis’ 36 total digs on the game.

The Pride committed 33 errors in the game. Offensively, Regis College had 12 attack errors, six serving errors, and three ball-handling errors. The Pride had 11 receiving errors, and one blocking error.

This was Regis’ third consecutive appearance in the TCCC postseason. In 2008 and 2009 the Pride traveled to Endicott College, losing both years in three matches. Regis lost a regular season decision to the Roger Williams (Oct. 5), but fought within four points in the third set.

Head coach Chris Ridolfi made his first showing in the postseason with Regis College. Ridolfi took over the team prior to the season starting. He is also the men’s volleyball head coach.
