PRIDE TAKE DOWN LEOPARDS IN TCCC PLAY

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College women's volleyball team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday (Oct. 30) by the score of 3-0.   The Pride moves to 9-23 overall on the season and are 3-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The visiting Leopards move to 8-20 overall on the season and are 2-7 in TCCC play.

Leading the Pride in the first match was freshman Angelica Endara (Boca Raton, Fla. /Boca Raton) who tallied four kills. The Leopards were led by freshman Michele Hobbs (Norwood, N.H. / Oyster River) who tallied three kills in the match. The match was close with each team jockeying back and forth point for point. The Pride was able to gain momentum and finish strong and defeating the Leopards 25-22.

In the second match the Pride continued to play well using their momentum from the first match. The Leopards continued to have a strong performance from Hobbs who rifled off a three consecutive points towards the end of the match.  This comeback was not enough with the Pride defeating the leopards by the score of 25-18.

The Pride won the third match by the score of 25-14. Senior Randi Garrity (Reading, Mass. /Reading Memorial) had a strong day finishing with 24 assists on the game. The Leopards Rebecca Williams (Brockton, Mass. /Brockton) finished the game with 22 assists.

With the win Regis College has a strong chance of claiming the eighth seed in the TCCC playoffs. An official announcement of playoff contenders will be released by TCCC office following all of Saturday's matches.

If Regis College does earn a playoff berth, it will be the third consecutive appearance in the TCCC postseason for the Pride. It defeated Wentworth in 2009 to earn a quarterfinals appearance.

The Pride is set to play their next match against Colby Sawyer College Saturday (Oct. 30) at 3:00 pm.
