WESTON, Mass.—Freshman Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif./Notre Dame), and the Regis College women’s volleyball team will participate in the 2010 “Dig Pink” campaign October 19 at 7:00 p.m.

“Dig Pink” was developed by the Side-Out Foundation in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches to have them work on furthering breast cancer awareness, education, and informing people about patient services.

This will be the second year that Regis College has taken part in the “Dig Pink” initiative. Gold, who helped organized this year’s involvement, is active with raising breast cancer awareness, as well as educating people on the various ways to be involved with fundraising.

The women’s volleyball team is accepting donations throughout the season, and specifically will be selling t-shirts, bracelets, and taking donations on Oct. 19. The team is asking that fans and visitors wear the color pink to show their support of the Dig Pink initiative, as well as to raise funds for cancer research.

Gold first became involved with “Dig Pink” while a sophomore in high school. This is a personally important initiative for Gold, as her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of Gold’s sophomore year.
