FIVE SCHOOL RECORDS FALL AT ART FARNHAM INVITE

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College Men's and Women's Track & Field Team competed in the Art Farnham Invitational Saturday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass. hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

On the men's side, in the field events, three previous school records were broken. Senior Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.) surpassed his own school record in the shot put with a throw of 13.15 meters, placing second overall. Junior Ray Grasso (Orange, Mass.) also broke his own school record in the triple jump with a distance of 12.55 meters. Rounding out the field events was sophomore Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) broke the previous school record in the high jump, jumping 1.78 meters.

On the track, Senior Jeremy Israel (Randolph, Mass.) won the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.26 while teammate Joe Greco (Oxford, Conn.) placed 3rd with a time of 53.00.

On the women's side, four members of the Pride finished within three places from each other in the 800 meter dash. Freshman Mikayla Mooney (Guilford, Conn.) placed fourth in the race with a time of 2:48.60. Sophomore Alexa Lucas (Melrose, Mass.) finished fifth with a time of 2:51 and junior Rachel Wood (Manchester, N.H.) finished seventh with a time of 3:01.01. In the 400 meter dash, freshman Kerri Jones (Uxbridge, Mass.) finished third with a time of 1:05.75. Another school record fell as Sophomore Kylie Homem (Peabody, Mass.) broke the record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 11.27.

In the field events, freshman standout Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) placed third and broke the previous school record in the shot put with a distance of 10.56 meters.
