Pamela Swords Named Head Coach of Regis College Women’s Tennis

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College Dean of Athletics Pam Roecker has announced the appointment of Pamela Swords as head coach of the Regis Pride women's tennis team, effective March 1, 2024.

Swords comes to Regis after serving as varsity tennis coach at Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon, N.J., since 2022. She worked with players at various levels of expertise to help develop their competitive confidence.

"I am excited about the future of Regis women's tennis under Coach Swords' leadership," said Roecker. "She is passionate about the sport, she understands the importance of building relationships and advocating for her players on and off the court, and she is bringing in a wealth of comprehensive professional experience to the program. Coach Swords is competitive, she is a motivator, and she is going to build a positive and enjoyable culture around the program. I can't wait to see her vision become a reality!"

Since 2020, Swords has volunteered as the President of The Woman's Club of Ridgewood in Ridgewood, N.J., a charitable organization whose goal is to help the community through charity. Swords improved the overall business model by upgrading and reorganizing financials, online communications, marketing, and payroll, plus she was the project manager for a significant renovation.

In the past, Swords has worked within major companies including Reebok International Corporation and Oracle Corporation. She previously spent two years as an assistant coach for the varsity men's tennis program at Queen of Peace High School in Arlington, N.J.

"I would like to thank Pam Roecker, the athletics administration, and the coaches for this exciting opportunity! I am looking forward to being part of the Regis team and helping my student-athletes succeed," Swords said.

Swords graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomechanics, plus she took mechanical engineering and finance courses at Northeastern University. She is a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and is Safe Certified by the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

The Regis College women's tennis program has reached the championship match of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament in each of the last three seasons, twice winning semifinal contests on the road to advance to the finals.
