BRIGHTON, Mass. – Regis College wrapped up its string of road contests by defeating Simmons University, 8-1, Wednesday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's tennis match at the Daly Field Tennis Courts.

The Pride got off to a strong start by winning all three doubles sets, starting with Kiana Thompson (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and Samantha Gevry (Dudley, Mass.) at number one doubles, 8-2. Harmony Lopez (Carlsbad, N.M.) and Nora Connor (Peabody, Mass.) collected an 8-2 win at number three doubles, and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Stephanie Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) pulled out an 8-7 victory at number two doubles by prevailing in the tiebreaker, 7-4.

Thompson quickly completed a straight-set victory at number one singles (6-0, 6-0), and Mogelnicki clinched the match for the Pride with her straight-set win at number two singles (6-4, 6-1). Connor won the first set of her match and then recovered from dropping the second set to take the super-tiebreaker, 10-7, for the victory in the sixth position (6-3, 4-6, 1-0).

Both Gevry at number four singles and Lopez at number five singles rallied from losing the first set to win the second set and force super-tiebreakers in their matches. Gevry completed her comeback victory first by winning the super-tiebreaker, 10-5 (3-6, 6-3, 1-0), followed closely by Lopez with a 10-7 decision in her super-tiebreaker (5-7, 7-5, 1-0).
