Regis Women’s Tennis Finalizes Fall 2022 Schedule

2022-23 REGIS COLLEGE WOMEN'S TENNIS SCHEDULE

WESTON, Mass. – Coming off an appearance in the championship match of the 2021 conference tournament, the Regis College women's tennis team has finalized its competition schedule for the fall 2022 portion of the upcoming season.

The Pride open the season Friday, Sept. 2, at Bridgewater State in a rematch of the 2021 season opener where the Bears prevailed, 5-4. Regis hosts Roger Williams Thursday, Sept. 8, in the first of four scheduled home contests.

The next four matches will take place away from home as Regis begins that stretch with non-conference contests at UMass Boston Tuesday, Sept. 13, and Salem State Thursday, Sept. 15. The Pride start their conference slate with the two teams they defeated on the way to the title match of last year's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament, traveling to face Albertus Magnus Saturday, Sept. 17, and Simmons Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Regis welcomes Eastern Nazarene for a conference clash during Regis Fest Saturday, Sept. 24, followed by a trip north to face Thomas College Tuesday, Sept. 27. The Pride close the regular season schedule with home league matches against defending GNAC champion Colby-Sawyer Saturday, Oct. 1, and Lesley Thursday, Oct. 6, as well as the finale at University of Saint Joseph Saturday, Oct. 8.

The top six teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the GNAC Tournament, with the top two squads earning a bye into the semifinals. The third and fourth seeds will host first round matches Wednesday, Oct. 12, with the winners advancing to the semifinals at the first and second seeds Saturday, Oct. 15. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, as the finalists will play for a spot in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament in the spring of 2023.

Regis received one first place vote as it finished second in the 2022 GNAC Women's Tennis Preseason Poll with 42 points, behind Colby-Sawyer with six first place votes and 47 total points. The Pride won 10 matches overall in 2021-22, including a 4-2 mark within the GNAC regular season to finish third in the league standings.

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including women's tennis, within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
