ITA Recognizes Regis Women’s Tennis Players, Team for Academic Excellence

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Regis College women's tennis team has been named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), and seven individual student-athletes have received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for their academic performance in 2021-22, as announced by the national organization Wednesday, July 13.

The Pride collected ITA All-Academic Team recognition for having a team grade point average of at least 3.2 for the 2021-22 academic year. In total, 125 Division III women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic team distinction, with Regis joining Simmons University as the two squads from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to be honored.

Both Regis and Simmons placed seven student-athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list, with Colby-Sawyer College also represented with two honorees. For the 2021-22 academic year, 940 Division III women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete for having a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Once again leading the Pride contingent are four recent graduates: Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.), Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.), Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.), and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.). Attridge, Colby, and FitzPatrick all collected their fourth career ITA Scholar-Athlete award, and Mogelnicki was recognized for the second consecutive year.

Stephanie Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition for the second straight year, while program newcomers Nora Connor (Peabody, Mass.) and Samantha Gevry (Dudley, Mass.) picked up this academic award for the first time. It is the eighth time within the last 10 years that the entire squad has earned the ITA All-Academic Team award.

Colby, Gevry, and Mogelnicki all received Second Team All-GNAC honors for their performances on the court in helping the Pride advance to the championship match of the GNAC Tournament. The Pride finished the 2021-22 season with 10 victories, capped by wins over UMass Boston, Saint Anselm, and Salve Regina in April to conclude the spring portion of the schedule.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at all levels – NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and Junior/Community College. As stated within the ITA's announcement of the academic honorees, "Academia is an integral aspect of the college tennis experience and adds to the unique student-athlete experience found on college campuses across the nation."

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including women's tennis, within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
