Regis Women’s Tennis Finishes as Runner-Up at GNAC Tourney

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Regis College could not overcome the depth of the roster of Colby-Sawyer College, as the Chargers won the 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Tennis Tournament title by defeating the Pride, 5-0, Saturday afternoon at the Kelsey Courts.

Colby-Sawyer took early control of the match by winning all three doubles sets. The contest at number one doubles was close, as Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) battled the duo of Grace Carpenter and Emily Hill before the Chargers finally prevailed, 8-6.

Carpenter was the first Charger to complete her singles match, winning in straight sets (6-0, 6-3) as the home team closed in on the victory. Elise Hogan brought the overall match to decision, earning a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-0) to give Colby-Sawyer its second GNAC women's tennis championship since joining the league in 2018.

Both Katelyn Mogelnicki and Lauren Mogelnicki were named to the All-GNAC Tournament Team as they led the Pride to 5-0 victories over Albertus Magnus and Simmons. This was the first championship match appearance for the Regis women's tennis team since the Pride joined the conference in 2017.

Regis College finishes its fall schedule with a 7-5 overall record, including a 4-2 league mark that placed the team third in the final regular season standings.
