Women’s Tennis Loses to Rhode Island College

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College lost to Rhode Island College, the preseason favorite in the Little East Conference, 9-0, Tuesday evening in a non-conference women's collegiate tennis match at the Regis Tennis Courts.

Rhode Island College (1-0) swept the doubles sets to take early control of the match. The closest contest came at the number two doubles position, as Stephanie Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) battled before falling to Lauren Macera and Serena Bobola, 8-6.

In singles play, Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) rebounded from a first set loss (6-2) to win the second set, 6-4, and force a super-tiebreaker, but Sarah Gonick prevailed, 10-4. Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) played a close match with Victoria Vittori, but the Rhode Island College player was able to complete the night with a straight-set (6-4, 7-5) victory.

Regis College (0-2) is scheduled to host Roger Williams Thursday, Sept. 9, starting at 4:30 p.m. before opening conference play this weekend at Eastern Nazarene.
