WESTON, Mass. – With seven players back from the squad that participated in at least part of the 2018-19 season, the Regis College women's tennis team heads into an 11-match fall schedule with eyes on contending for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference title.

Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) is the lone senior on this year's team and comes into the season with 31 career singles victories, tied for ninth on Regis' all-time wins list, and 27 doubles wins, tied for eighth for most career doubles victories by an individual. McCormack is a leader not only on the tennis team but also within the student body, as she is serving as President of the Student Government Association (SGA) in 2019-20.

"I am looking forward to a great season. The players have worked very hard and have really prepared for the season. Everyone has been putting forth the effort during practice and displaying a positive attitude," McCormack said.

Two-time All-GNAC honoree Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) also returns for her junior year after leading the Pride last season with 13 singles victories and 15 doubles wins. Donovan won seven straight singles matches at the start of the fall 2018 campaign and five consecutive contests, all in straight sets, to conclude the spring 2019 slate.

Junior Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) is back for her second year with the Pride and looks to maintain a consistent presence in the singles lineup after winning 11 of 16 matches in 2018-19. Sophomore Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) is coming off a strong first year of collegiate tennis, posting a 12-4 singles record and 13-5 doubles mark last season.

The doubles team of sophomores Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) went 8-3 last year, including 4-1 in GNAC play, and both players are aiming to show improvement in singles and doubles this season. Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) joined the team last spring and picked up straight set wins over players from King's College and Wentworth.

The Pride open the 2019 portion of their schedule with three road matches on three consecutive Saturdays, starting Aug. 31 against Thomas College. The home opener takes place Wednesday, Sept. 18, against Suffolk, and Regis also plays key home contests against defending champion Colby-Sawyer Saturday, Sept. 21, and preseason favorite Johnson & Wales Saturday, Sept. 28.

The top six teams in the final GNAC regular season standings will qualify for the conference tournament, starting with the first round Wednesday, Oct. 16. The top two seeds will receive a bye into the semifinals Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Winchester Tennis Club, the same site as the championship match Sunday, Oct. 20.
