Regis Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – Once again, the Regis College tennis program showed its excellence not only on the court, but also in the classroom, as the Pride women's tennis team received the All-Academic Team award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), and seven Regis student-athletes, five women and two men, earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above. Regis is one of four women's squads from the GNAC to receive the honor for 2018-19, along with Johnson & Wales, Simmons, and Suffolk.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, must have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the 2018-19 academic year, and must have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.), entering her senior year with the Pride, is one of five Regis representatives from the women's tennis team. Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.), going into her junior year, also earned the academic recognition, as did Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.), Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.), and Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) in their first year at the school.

On the men's side, Regis was one of three GNAC squads, joining Johnson & Wales and Suffolk, to be represented by ITA Scholar-Athletes. Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.), now a junior, and Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.), about to start his senior year, earned the honor for meeting all of the requirements.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at all levels - NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College. For more information, visit www.itatennis.com.
