NORTH READING, Mass. – After falling behind 2-1 at the end of the doubles sets, Regis College swept the singles matches to defeat Suffolk University, 7-2, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's tennis contest at North Reading High School.

The only Regis victory in doubles came from Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) in the number two position, as they pulled out an 8-6 victory. Mogelnicki carried that momentum into her singles match, as she defeated Kendall Smith in number four singles in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) to tie the match at 2-2.

Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) picked up the next victory for Regis at third singles, winning her match in straight sets (6-0, 6-3). Donovan brought the Pride to the brink of clinching with a straight-set win over Ilda Ascic at second singles (6-2, 6-3).

At fifth singles, Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) dropped the first set, but rallied for a three-set win (4-6, 7-5, 6-4) over Meagan French to clinch the match for the Pride. Both Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) and Gracie Jarest (Wrentham, Mass.) also came from behind, losing the first set in their singles matches before taking the next two sets for respective three-set victories.

Regis (4-1, 2-1 GNAC) heads to Boston to face Simmons Saturday, Sept. 22, starting at 12 noon. The Pride will then help celebrate Regis Fest with a home contest against Albertus Magnus Saturday, Sept. 29, also at 12 noon.
