Women's Tennis Too Much For Penn State-Berks

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team remained perfect to start the spring season, topping Penn State-Berks 8-1 Tuesday night at the Lake Cane Tennis Courts.

The Pride (11-1) dominated all three doubles courts to take a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles play. Katasha Jarvis (Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) won on the No. 1 court to get the first point of the match with an 8-1 win over the PSU (2-3) tandem of Caroline Bashore (Hamburg, Pa.) and Laura Youwakim (Whitehall, Pa.). Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass,) and Carly Scanlon (Canton, Mass.) won at the three 8-2 and Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) made it a clean sweep, beating Kianna Anderson and Erin Ginther 8-1 on the No. 2 court.

The Pride lost only at six singles en route to completing the big win. Jarvis' straight-set win over Youwakim on the No. 4 court clinched the win. Lord was the last to finish, winning a 10-point tiebreaker to decide the match.

Regis returns to Lake Cane Wednesday to take on Moravian at 12:00 p.m. with Penn State-Berks next in action against UMass Boston on Thursday, Mar. 9.
