REGIS CRUISES PAST NIGHTHAWKS, 9-0

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team defeated Newbury College, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action in Weston, Mass. The Pride stay perfect in the NECC at 3-0 and move to 4-0 overall on the year, while Newbury drops to 0-3, 0-3 NECC.

The Crimson and Gold only dropped one point in doubles play as Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) swept Sharifah Mukasa and Destiny Spears, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles, with Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Sarah Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) winning at No. 3 doubles by a matching score.

Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) teamed to defeat Jessica Russo and Katelynne Bazile, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles.

The Pride continued their dominance as the match headed into singles play with four matches being decided by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Emily Rice, Katasha Jarvis, Jewel Medeiros, and Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) won at No.'s 3, 4, 5, and 6 singles, respectively with straight-set sweeps.

Jessie Lord used a 6-0, 6-1 score to win at No. 1 singles over Jessica Russo, while Erica Murphy defeated Katelynne Bazile, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

The Pride are back in action on Monday afternoon when they host Johnson & Wales University at 4:30 p.m. in a match that was rescheduled from September 10th.
