PRIDE POUNCE PAST LYNX, 8-1

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team avenged a 5-4 loss earlier this season with an 8-1 victory over Lesley University on Thursday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action. The Pride picks up its second win of the season while improving to 2-6 and 2-3 in league play while Lesley drops to 4-3 and 4-2 in the NECC.

The Pride picked up its first two points of the day in numbers one and two doubles. Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Elora Granados (Chillicothe, Texas) were up a break at 5-4, but were broken by Nicole Smith and Christina Constantine who forced the matchup to 6-6 but the duo was able to recover and hold on for an 8-6 win. Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) and Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) posted an 8-2 win in number two doubles while Lesley was forced to forfeit the final doubles set due to lack of players.

Singles play was played in pro sets and Elora Granados posted an 8-1 victory over Nicole Smith in number one singles. MJ Barron and Deirdre Botsch (Foxboro, Mass.) won at numbers two and three singles, respectively, while Emily Scolaro nabbed the lone point for the Lynx in number three singles with an 8-6 win over Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.). Lesley was forced to forfeit the final two singles matches, helping Regis post the 8-1 win.

The Crimson and Gold look for their third win of the season on Monday afternoon when the Pride travel Longmeadow, Mass. to take on Bay Path College in a conference match at 1:00 p.m. Lesley looks to bounce back on Saturday when the Lynx take on Mitchell College at 12:00 p.m.
