REGIS SUFFERS 9-0 SETBACK TO BECKER

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Regis College women's team fell 9-0 to Becker College on Wednesday afternoon in NECC action. The Pride drops to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the NECC while Becker improves to a perfect 4-0 in league play and 9-1 overall.

In doubles play, Becker secured three points to start the match as Laura Mimms and Megan Nessen defeated Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Elora Granados (Chillicothe, Texas) by a score of 8-1 in number one doubles while Shauna McNally and Nicole Connolly handed Paige Pasley (Dorchester, Mass.) and Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) an 8-3 setback in number two doubles. Courtney Johnson and Lianna Woodbury secured the last point in doubles play for the Hawks with an 8-4 win in number three doubles.

Singles play was much of the same for the host Hawks. Elora Granados forced a third set in her number one singles matchup with Megan Nessen, but suffered her first setback of the year by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. Nicole Connoly, Laura Mimms, and Shauna McNally took points at numbers two-through-four singles while Lianna Woodbury defeated Vanneyra Chum (Lowell, Mass.) by a score of 8-4 in number five singles and Coutney Johnson handed Maryse Emungu (South Burlington, Vt.) an 8-3 setback at number six singles.

The Crimson and Gold look to rebound on Thursday afternoon as the Pride returns to NECC action in a 4:30 p.m. matchup with Lesley in Weston, Mass.
