PRIDE FALLS TO LYNX 5-4

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Regis College women's tennis team was defeated by Lesley College late Tuesday night by the score of 5-4. The Pride moves to 0-5 overall on the season and are 0-1 in the NECC. The Lynx improve to 2-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in the NECC.

The Pride started the day with a long hard fought match at number one doubles with Elora Granados (Chillicothe, Texas) and Page Paisley (Dorchester, Mass.) falling 9-7 to the Lynx'  sister tandem of Michelle Side and Katie Side (Miller Place, N.Y.).

The Pride was able to bounce back and notch a third doubles win under the strong play of Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.) and Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) who were able to beat the Lynx'  duo of Christina Constantine (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and Emily Scolaro (Peabody, Mass.) by the score of 8-2. This strong play was not enough for the Pride as the Lynx finished the day taking two of the first three points of the match at doubles.

Regis started singles play off with a win, when Elora Gvanados took down Michelle Side in first singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Lynx rallied back taking the next three match points with Nicole Smith, Katie Side, and Brenna Donovan (Hingham, Mass.) defeating  Roche, MJ Barron (Whitinsvile, Mass.) and Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.)

The Pride rounded out the match with two wins at fifth and sixth singles. Freshman Vanneyra Chum (Lowell, Mass.) defeated the Lynx' Christina Constantine (6-2, 6-2), while Maryse Emungu routed Emily Scolaro (6-2, 6-0). The Lynx wrapped up the match taking five of the nine points to secure the victory 5-4.

The Crimson and Gold will return to action this Saturday when they host the Wildcats from Bay Path College at 11:00 am. The Lynx return to play Sunday when they travel to New Haven Connecticut to take on the Mariners from Mitchell College.
