PRIDE FALL TO HOLY CROSS, 7-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team fell to Division I member Holy Cross, 7-0, on Friday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. The Pride fall to 0-2 on the young year, while Holy Cross grabs its first win of the season to improve to 1-0.

In doubles play, Regis fell in all three matchups, 8-0. The outcomes were very similar in single play as Holy Cross grabbed all six decisions for the 7-0 win. Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass.) fell to Molly Montgomery, 6-0, 6-1 in number one singles while the Crusaders' Emily Marr took down Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) in number three singles by a matching score of 6-0, 6-1.

Head coach John Carlieglio hopes that this matchup with the Division I Crusaders will prepare the Pride for competition in the NECC as Regis joins the conference for competition for the first time in 2011.

Regis returns to action on September 17th when the Pride hosts Becker in its first home match of the season with a conference game against Becker College at 12:00 p.m. Holy Cross continues its fall slate against Anna Maria on Monday, September 12th at 3:30 p.m.
