PRIDE FALLS TO GOLDEN BEARS 0-9

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--- The Regis College women's tennis team was defeated by Western New England College Wednesday (Sept. 15) by the score of 9-0.  The Pride finished the contest with a record of 1-4 while the Golden Bears advance to 2-2.

In singles junior Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass./Holy Name) played hard for the Pride but lost to Western New England's Caitlin Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) in third singles by the score of (6-1, 6-1).

Leading the Pride in doubles play were freshman Maryse Emungu (South Burlington, Vt./Rice Memorial) and freshman Paige Pasley (Dorchester, Mass./Fontbonne Academy) who put in a strong effort but lost to the Golden Bears doubles partners Ashley Czeltka (Southampton, NY) and Lori Pagliano (Milford, Conn.) by the score of (8-2).

For Western New England, junior Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, Mass) remained undefeated at number two singles spot by defeating freshman Teanna Montoya (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard Regional) by the score of (6-0, 6-0).

 
The Pride plays their next match against Roger Williams University Saturday (Sept. 18) at Regis College Athletic Fields.
The Golden Bears travel to Milton, Mass. Sunday (Sept. 19) to take on Curry College at 2:00 pm.
