Regis Women’s Soccer Opens Conference Play With Victory

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Regis College took more than twice as many shots as Albertus Magnus as the Pride defeated the Falcons, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's soccer match at Celentano Field.

Sara Costa (Ludlow, Mass.) opened up the scoring for the match, finding the net for her first goal of the season and go-ahead goal in the 24th minute of play, assisted by Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.). 

In the 80th minute of play, Emma Nunnemacher (West Boylston, Mass.) scored the first goal of her collegiate career off a pass from Samantha Perkins (Whitman, Mass.) to give the Pride a two-goal advantage.

With the win, Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) earned her first career collegiate victory for Regis, making three saves, while Albertus Magnus goalie Amy Stevens made six saves throughout the contest. The Pride also managed to outshoot their opponent 19-9.

Regis College (2-2, 1-0 GNAC) hosts Rhode Island College Wednesday, Sept. 14, beginning at 7 p.m.
