Late Goal Propels Regis Women’s Soccer to First Victory of Season

MILTON, Mass. - Regis College came out on top, 1-0, in a defensive battle against Curry College Saturday afternoon in a non-conference women's collegiate soccer match at Walter M. Katz Field.

The contest went scoreless through 81 minutes of play until Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) scored the only goal of the match, finding the back of the net on a volley in the middle of the box delivered by Maria Toumbouras (Walpole, Mass.) to put the Pride on top.

Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) split time in net for Regis, totaling 10 saves with Van Cott making two saves in the first half and Mazo stopping eight shots in the second half, including two key saves in the final seven minutes of the match. Curry goalie Hannah Correa finished with four saves. 

Regis College (1-1) next hosts a home match against Keene State Wednesday, Sept, 7, starting at 7 p.m.
