Pride Women’s Soccer Falls Short in Season Opener
BOSTON – Regis College was held scoreless by Emerson College as the Lions scored three times in the first half, defeating the Pride 5-0 in a non-conference women's collegiate soccer contest at Rotch Field Thursday night.
 
Emerson's first goal came just three and a half minutes into the game when Madeline Khaw managed to score off a pass from Simone Barragan-Shaw. 16 minutes later, Barragan-Shaw would score a goal of her own, assisted on the play by Gina Lukoskie. Cali Bruce gave the Lions a 3-0 lead heading into halftime, scoring an unassisted goal with just under eight minutes remaining in the first half.
 
Emerson kept the pressure on in the second half with Barragan-Shaw scoring her second goal of the game, this time assisted by Brittney Righetti, with just over 30 minutes remaining in regulation. Alianna West-Rodrigues would cap off the scoring for the night, finding the net with under five minutes remaining, assisted by Katie Wojcik.
 
Cristina Nazario (Isla Verde, Puerto Rico) and Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) split time in net for the Pride with Nazario making five saves in the first half while Van Cott stopped four in the second.
 
Regis College (0-1) next takes the field Saturday, Sept. 3, at Curry College beginning at 12 p.m., followed by the Pride's home opener Wednesday, Sept. 7, against Keene State College starting at 7 p.m.
