Nishibun Hat Trick Leads Women’s Soccer to GNAC Win

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Miya Nishibun (Honolulu, Hawaii) notched a hat trick to lead Regis College past Dean College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's collegiate soccer match Saturday afternoon at Lippert Field.

Regis got on the board with less than a minute gone by when Nishibun dribbled through a few Dean defenders and scored into the left side of the net to give the Pride a 1-0 lead.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 36th minute after junior defender Alexa Katsoulis (Oxford, Mass.) set up junior teammate Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) with a chance. Lovell took a shot from 25 yards that deflected off the diving keeper over the goal line for the score.

Regis tacked on a pair of goals in the second half off the foot of Nishibun for a hat trick. The goals came in the 72nd and 84th minutes of action. Junior Maria Toumbouras (Walpole, Mass.) had an assist on the Pride's third goal of the contest.

Regis senior Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) earned the clean sheet with three saves, including a penalty shot. First-year keeper Haley Gaunt finished with 17 saves for the Bulldogs as the Pride outshot Dean, 36-6.

Regis (1-1, 1-0 GNAC) heads to Providence, R.I., to face Rhode Island College Wednesday night, Sept. 15, starting at 6 p.m. The Pride then return home to face Albertus Magnus in a conference contest next Saturday, Sept. 18, beginning at 12 p.m.
