Kelly, Francis Voted All-GNAC in Women’s Soccer

WINTHROP, Mass. ­– After helping the Regis College women's soccer team earn its second consecutive berth into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament, senior Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) and sophomore Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) were voted All-GNAC by the league coaches, as results of their voting were announced Monday.

Kelly, voted Second Team All-GNAC, received her second straight postseason conference honor and third overall in her stellar career. She scored four goals, all against league foes, to increase her career total to 26 goals, second-most in program history and just one goal off the school career record. She also ended the year second on the all-time points list with 62 career points.

Francis was also honored by the GNAC coaches for the second consecutive season, picking up Third Team All-GNAC recognition after leading the Pride with eight goals and nine assists for 25 total points. In league play, Francis collected five goals and three assists, including two assists during Regis' 3-2 victory at Simmons. In just two seasons, Francis has already moved into the Regis all-time top 10 in three categories with 19 goals and 14 assists for 52 total points.

Senior Shelagh O'Neil (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was selected as Regis' representative on the GNAC Women's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team. She appeared in eight matches during the 2019 season, earning a goal and an assist during the Pride's 7-0 victory over Anna Maria. O'Neil, majoring in elementary education and English, is a two-time GNAC All-Academic honoree.

Regis finished the 2019 season with an 8-10-1 overall record, including a 5-6-1 mark within the league to end up in a tie for sixth place in the final regular season standings. The Pride earned the eighth seed in the GNAC Tournament and were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual tournament champion Johnson & Wales.
