Aria Ulmer Named GNAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After helping Regis College earn two victories over the weekend, freshman midfielder Aria Ulmer (Henniker, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

After starting her third consecutive match Saturday against Colby-Sawyer, Ulmer played the entire second half and overtime for a total of approximately 74 minutes on the field. She had a chance to increase the Pride lead in the 63rd minute with her only shot of the match, but her presence in the middle of the field was key as Regis defeated the Chargers in overtime, 2-1.

Sunday, Ulmer once again started for the Pride and played approximately 48 minutes. Three minutes after she re-entered the match in the second half, Ulmer positioned herself in the box for a Regis corner kick in the 61st minute. The ball eventually bounced her way, and she converted on the shot for her first career collegiate goal. It would turn out to be the game-winning tally in Regis' 3-2 victory over Curry.

Ulmer became the ninth different player to score a goal so far this season for the Pride. She is the first Regis women's soccer student-athlete to receive a GNAC weekly award since Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) earned her second GNAC Rookie of the Week honor last season on Oct. 8, 2018.

Regis (3-2, 1-0 GNAC) hosts Rhode Island College Tuesday, Sept. 17, starting at 4 p.m., two hours earlier than originally scheduled. The Anchorwomen bring a 2-3 record into the contest after losing at WPI Saturday, 4-0. This will be the third meeting all-time between Regis and RIC, with the Pride winning, 2-1, on Sept. 29, 2015, and the two teams tying, 0-0, on Sept. 27, 2016.
