WINTHROP, Mass. - Emma Mendes (Pawtucket, R.I.), a freshman on the Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team, has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

The honor comes after Mendes recorded her first two-goal game of her career in a 3-0 win over Mount Ida on Wednesday evening. Mendes scored what would prove to be the game-winner in the 37th minute, before tallying an insurance marker in the 57th minute. Through three games, Mendes leads the Pride with three goals. 

Mendes and the Pride return to the pitch on Wednesday evening for a GNAC contest against Anna Maria College at Regis Stadium. Kick off between the Pride and the AMCats is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
