Fitzgerald Earns Third Team All-GNAC Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.), a freshman on the Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team has been named to the Third Team All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Also earning an all-conference selection was senior Erin Loehner (Danvers, Mass.), who was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday.

Fitzgerald was the Pride's leading scorer in her rookie season, compiling eight goals and two assists for 18 points in 15 games played. Her first collegiate goal came in a 3-0 win over Mount Ida on Sept. 6. She also recorded one two-goal game on the season, coming in a Sept. 23 loss to Simmons, as well as a pair of one-goal, one-assist games in wins over Anna Maria on Sept. 13 and Norwich on Oct. 11. Fitzgerald's eight goals in a season ties for seventh in Regis program history, while her 18 points ties for 10th.

Loehner started all 16 games for the Pride in her senior campaign, rounding out her career starting all 54 games she appeared in during her three-year career on the Regis back line. It is the first all-conference selection of the captain's career.

Regis finished its first season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with a record of 5-10-1, finishing ninth in the GNAC standings. The women's soccer team went into the Regis Athletics record books on Sept. 6, as the team picked up a 3-0 victory over Mount Ida for the first GNAC win in school history.
