Pride Slides by Wheelock 6-1

BOSTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team picked up its second straight conference win on Tuesday night, as the Pride defeated Wheelock College by a score of 6-1. With the win, the Pride improves to 9-5-1 (5-2 NECC), while the Wildcats fall to 0-15 (0-7 NECC).

The scoring action started in the thirteenth minute when Hannah Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) found Michaela Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) on a cross to the opposite corner of the box to put the Pride ahead by 1.

DeGloria then leveled the playing field less than two minutes later, scoring her second marker of the season after dangling up the middle for a one v. goalie at 14:09.

Five minutes later, the Pride regained the lead at 2-1, after freshman midfielder Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) buried a penalty kick at 19:22.

Regis took a corner kick at 25:42. The initial attempt by Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) was blocked, but the freshman mid was able to gather her own rebound and feed to Hannah Bouvette to propel the visitors' lead to two.

A second penalty kick opportunity was awarded to the Pride with just under ten minutes to go in the half, but the Tais Salles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) attempt was collected by senior keeper Erin Rice (Windsor, Vt.) to keep Regis at bay, momentarily.

Filetti and Sheehan Barton (Bourne, Mass.) made up for the missed PK and then some, as they each chipped in with unassisted goals in the final minutes to head off the field with a 5-1, halftime lead.

Kelly was the only goal scorer of the second half, and the eventual final tally would be 6-1 in Regis' favor.

Rice came away with four saves overall, while Amanda Matias (Ludlow, Mass.) earned her sixth win of the season.

Wheelock will pick back up again on Saturday, October 22, when they host Elms College for their final home game of the season. Regis plays next on the 22nd as well, hosting Southern Vermont College at 2:30 p.m.
