Kelly's Hat Trick Lifts Women's Soccer Over Becker

WESTON, Mass. - Freshman Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) netted her first collegiate hat trick on Saturday afternoon, as the Regis (Mass.) women's soccer defeated Becker College by a score of 4-0.

With the win, the Pride improves to 8-5-1 (4-2-0 NECC), while Becker falls to 9-6-0 (4-2-0 NECC).

Kelly opened the scoring in the eighth minute on a penalty kick. After Becker goalkeeper Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) took down a Regis player inside the box attempting to make a tackle, Kelly stepped up and drilled the ball into the top left corner of the net to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Martel guessed correctly when she dove to her right, but couldn't catch up to Kelly's perfectly placed shot.

In the 24th minute, Kelly got back onto the scoresheet with her second goal of the game. Regis freshman Noelle Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) sent a pass forward to Kelly, sending her in on a breakaway. Kelly made no mistake on the finish, tapping it past Martel into the bottom left corner of the net.

Pride senior Hannah Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) got in on the fun exactly two minutes later when she tallied her second goal of the season. Bouvette got her head to a Jenna Novio (Rockland, Mass.) corner, beating the keeper to the bottom right corner of the net.

Kelly finished off her hat trick in the 52nd minute, bringing her season goal total to six goals. Off another Garcia assist, Kelly tapped the ball around a diving Martel before feeding the ball into the wide open net.

Regis goalkeeper Amanda Matias (Ludlow, Mass.) made four saves to earn the win. Martel picked up the loss, despite her three saves.

Next up for the Pride, they will travel to Wheelock College on Tuesday. The Hawks will be back in action the same day when they take on Southern Vermont on the road.
