Women's Soccer Too Much for Mitchell

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team had five different players tally a goal in a 5-0 defeat of the Mitchell College Mariners on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The Pride got off to an early start in the first half as freshman Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) scored from the top of the box to put the Pride up 1-0, a lead they would not look back from. Junior midfielder Michaela Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) added another early goal on an assist from freshman Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.).

The highlight of the game came at the 19 minute mark as the Pride's Faith Montgomery (Brockton, Mass.) headed a ball off of a cross from Shannon Cafua (Watertown, Mass.). Kelly also picked up her second assist of the game to begin the play.

Mitchell goalie Jordan Lohneiss (West Hartford, Conn.) saved 12 shots, while Regis goalie Noelle Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) made her only save on an early rush by Mitchell's Drew Johndrow (Killingly, Conn.).

Hannah Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Tais Salles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) scored the fourth and fifth goals for the Pride coming off assists from Joana Rosa (Boston, Mass.) and Cafua.

Mitchell falls to 1-7 on the season and 1-2 in conference play and next plays home against Dean College on Wednesday, October 5 at 3:00 pm. Regis moves to 6-3-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. They next play next at Emerson College on Tuesday, October 4 at 6:00 pm.
