Pride Score Thrilling Double Overtime Win At Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. - After a pair of difficult losses, the Regis (Mass.) Pride women's soccer team got back on the winning track with a thrilling 1-0 double overtime win over Anna Maria College on Tuesday evening at AMCAT field.

Following two scoreless regular play periods and one scoreless overtime period, the Pride (2-2) found an opening to score in the 100th minute of play. Junior Tais Salles (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) took a pass from Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) to bury the only tally of the game and give Regis the 1-0 victory over the AMCATS.

With the win Regis improves to 2-2 overall while Anna Maria falls to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Regis outshot Anna Maria by a 44-9 margin overall (18-5 on goal) while holding a 14-3 advantage in corner kicks for the contest. It was a clean, hard fought game between both teams with seven fouls from the Pride and five called on the AMCATS while neither team was distributed a penalty.

Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) kept the AMCATS in the game with an impressive 17 saves while Amanda Matias (Ludlow, Mass.) notched five saves for Regis.

The Pride returns to action this Thursday hosting Suffolk at home at 6:30 p.m. Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday Sept. 17 to take on the Mustangs of Mount Ida College in GNAC play at 3:00 p.m. at Alumni field.
