Women's Soccer Blanked by Brandeis in Home Opener

WESTON, Mass. - Brandeis senior forward Lea McDaniel (Phoenix, Ariz.) netted four goals on Thursday afternoon as the Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team fell to the Judges by a score of 9-0.

With the loss, the Pride drops to 1-1-0 on the season, while Brandeis improves to a perfect 4-0-0.

McDaniel and teammate Hannah Maatallah (Wilton, Conn.) netted first half goals to give Brandeis a 2-0 lead into the break, but it was following the intermission that the Judges piled it on. The team netted four goals in the first 6:15 of the half to pull away from the Pride.

Alexa Steele-Weintraub (Odessa, Fla.), Katie Hayes (Eau Claire, Wisc.) and Haliana Burhans (Charlotte, Vt.) all added insurance markers in the second half to help secure the Judges' fourth victory of season in as many tries.

Pride freshman goalie Amanda Matias (Ludlow, Mass.) made nine saves in the losing effort, while Judges Alexis Grossman (Syosset, N.Y.) and Emma Marx (Kildeer, Ill.) combined for the shut out.

Both teams will have quick turnarounds, as the Pride hosts Framingham State at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The Judges will look to maintain their perfect record when they host UMass-Boston on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
