REGIS TOPPED BY USJ, 2-0

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – University of Saint Joseph senior forward Patricia Nolan (Portland, Conn.) scored a goal in each half to lead the Blue Jays to 2-0 victory over Regis College in a non-conference game on Tuesday. St. Joseph improves to 6-2 overall, while Regis drops to 2-4-1 with the loss.

The Pride were led by sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.) and junior forward Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.). Gagnon recorded ten saves in the game, including several on excellent scoring chances, and Joseph paced the Regis offense with two shots, including one shot on goal.

Senior Andrea Barbosa (Taunton, Mass.) and freshman Emma Dagesse (Rockland, Mass.) also chipped in with a shot on goal apiece for the Pride.

USJ sophomore Sara Barnick (Watertown, Conn.) set up Nolan's first goal, 9:28 into the game. Barnick dribbled into the left side of the box and fed Nolan in the middle with a pin-point cross and Nolan knocked in a low shot from five yards.

The Blue Jays outshot Regis in the first half, 11-4, and 22-6 for the game, while also holding a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.

Nolan scored an unassisted goal in the 66th minute in what proved to be the final tally on the day. She made a 15-yard run into the left side of the box and slid a low shot across the goal-mouth from 10 yards out that settled into the net just inside the far post.

The Crimson & Gold will return to action this Thursday when they host Emerson at 4:30 p.m.
