Pam Gonzalez Named to NEWBA Honor Roll for Fifth Time

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Senior Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) has been named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Second Team for the fifth time during the 2022-23 season, announced Wednesday, Feb. 15, by the regional organization.

During the week of Feb. 6-12, Gonzalez averaged 21.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Last Wednesday against Lasell, Gonzalez led the Pride with 26 points and 14 rebounds, including nine points and six rebounds in the second quarter alone to help Regis get back into the game. She went 5-for-6 from the field in the third quarter to score 12 of the team's 18 points, bringing the Pride within four points heading into the final period.

Saturday, after being honored in a Senior Day presentation, Gonzalez collected 17 points and 14 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, plus she nearly notched a triple-double as she dished out a career-high eight assists. She helped the Pride defeat GNAC South Division leader Albertus Magnus for the first time in the last seven meetings.

Gonzalez continues to lead the team in scoring with 16.0 points per game, plus she is second on the squad in rebounding with 9.8 rebounds per game. Gonzalez is also 21st in Division III in steals per game at 3.41, and she has moved into 12th place on Regis' all-time scoring list with 1,083 career points.

The Regis College women's basketball team concludes the regular season at Dean College Saturday, Feb. 18, beginning at 1 p.m. The Pride will then participate in the GNAC Women's Basketball Tournament next week, starting with a quarterfinal game next Tuesday, Feb. 21.
