Lucky Number Seven: Gonzalez Named GNAC Rookie of Week Again

WINTHROP, Mass. – After consecutive double-doubles to help Regis College rise to the top of the conference standings with one week remaining in the regular season, freshman guard Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the seventh time this season, announced Monday by the league office.

Last Wednesday against Suffolk, she hit 6-of-10 field goal attempts, including 4-of-6 from behind the three-point line, as she finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds along with two assists and two steals. She followed that up with a 15-point, 10-rebound performance Saturday as the Pride pulled out a victory over Anna Maria.

Gonzalez now has six double-doubles this season as she continues to lead the team with 13.0 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. In 10 league contests, Gonzalez is averaging a double-double with 13.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Regis College enters the final week of the regular season with a 14-10 overall record, including an 8-2 mark within the GNAC that currently puts the Pride in a tie for first place in the conference standings. Regis travels to Standish, Maine, to face Saint Joseph's College Saturday, Feb. 22, starting at 1 p.m., with a Pride victory clinching home court advantage throughout the GNAC Tournament for Regis.
