NOTE: THIS IS AN UPDATED RELEASE FIRST PUBLISHED MONDAY, JAN. 27

WINTHROP, Mass. – Regis College freshman guard Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season as well as the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week for the third time after helping the Pride in games against two top teams within the region, announced Monday by the GNAC office and Tuesday by NEWBA.

Last Wednesday against Rhode Island College, the current leader in the Little East Conference, Gonzalez notched her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, plus she dished out six assists while committing just one turnover. She helped the Pride take a two-point lead with three minutes left in regulation before the Anchorwomen rallied for a 60-56 victory.

Saturday against then-GNAC leader Emmanuel, she tied her career high with 15 rebounds to go along with five assists. She was held to three points until the final minutes of the fourth quarter, as she hit a layup with two minutes remaining to bring the Pride within one. On Regis' next possession after a defensive stop, she converted another layup to put the Pride ahead for good, as they eventually defeated the Saints, 55-52.

For the season, Gonzalez is averaging 13.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. She is currently tied for fifth in the league in steals per game, ninth in rebounds per game, and 12th in points per game. She has reached double figures in scoring 10 times so far this year, including three games with 20 or more points.

Previously, Gonzalez was named GNAC Rookie of the Week Nov. 25, Dec. 9, Jan. 6, and Jan. 20, and she added NEWBA honors on Nov. 26 and Dec. 10 before this week. Amber Wilson of Anna Maria College was named GNAC Player of the Week after averaging 28.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game.
