WESTON, Mass. - The top-seeded Regis (Mass.) women's basketball team (19-6, 18-0 NECC) will play in its final New England Collegiate Conference Tournament, hosting eighth-seeded Lesley University (7-18, 5-13 NECC) on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Higgins Court. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
The Pride enter the tournament on a historic run having run the league table for the sixth straight season. Regis closed the regular season with an 81-30 win over Southern Vermont, putting the finishing touches on an undefeated 108-game run as a member of the NECC. The win also gave Regis its NCAA Division III women's basketball record 112th straight consecutive league victory, a streak which began in 2011 as a member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
The Pride are 8-1 in the NECC Tournament, its only loss coming to Daniel Webster in the program's first tournament appearance 2012. Regis is 16-1 all-time versus the Lynx but Tuesday marks the first postseason meeting between the two schools.
Regis is led by a pair of 1,000-point scorers in Brittany Stone and Amanda Hawkesworth. Stone, a three-time NECC Player of the Week selection this season, leads the league in field goal percentage (63.8%) and is among the leaders with 18.3 points per game. She has posted double figures in points in all but one game this season and corralled a season-high 17 rebounds against Lesley last month.
