REGIS NAMED NECC’S TOP SEED, HOST NECC TOURNAMENT NEXT WEEKEND

WESTON, Mass. – For the fourth-straight season, the Regis College women's basketball team has earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Tournament. The Pride will host the Semifinals and Finals next Friday and Saturday.

Regis wrapped up the NECC regular season with an unblemished 18-0 mark in conference games, and has won 72-straight league contests dating back to the 2011-12 season. The Pride's 20-5 mark is also the fourth-straight season the team has posted 20+ wins for the first time since the 1993-1996 seasons.

Regis will take on the winner of the #5 Wheelock College and #4 Mitchell College First Round matchup scheduled for Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Pride swept both season series from the Wildcats and Mariners, but their last time out against both teams were close games as Regis pulled away late in a 59-51 win over Mitchell, and the Pride edged Wheelock, 64-53 last week.

Elms College has earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will host No. 7 Daniel Webster College on Tuesday night. No. 6 Newbury College travels to No. 3 Southern Vermont on Tuesday as well, with the winners of those two games facing off in the NECC Semifinals on Friday night at 8:00 p.m.
