PRIDE FINISH UNBEATEN IN NECC WITH WIN ON SENIOR DAY

WESTON, Mass. – For the fourth-straight season, the Regis College women's basketball team finished with an unblemished 18-0 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference, finishing the regular season with a 94-53 victory over visiting Southern Vermont College on Saturday afternoon.

The Pride enters the NECC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, earning a bye, and boasts a 20-5 overall record – the program's fourth-straight 20-win season. Southern Vermont finishes 15-10 overall and 13-5 in the NECC, and will be the No. 3 seed in the upcoming NECC postseason. The NECC Tournament gets under way on Tuesday night.

The Pride jumped out to an early 12-3 lead by working the ball inside as all six baskets came inside the paint, with Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) scoring six of the first 12 points. Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) stretched the Pride lead to 34-14 with a layup on the fast break that got her within one point of 1,000 for her career.

After a Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) block on the defensive end, the Pride set up a play for Bradley, leaving her one-on-one on the left block with an SVC defender. Bradley shot-faked, and drove right, laying it off the glass and into the Pride record book as she became the 15th member of the 1,000 Point Club in program history.

The Pride took a 51-22 lead into the break, shooting 46.8% from the field in the opening stanza, while holding the Mountaineers to just 26.1% shooting. Stone led all scorers at the half with a double-double of 20 point and 10 rebounds. Amber Flagg (Windsor, Conn.) led Southern Vermont with 14 points, going 8-for-10 from the charity stripe.

In a halftime ceremony, the women's basketball team honored their three seniors Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass.), Janaya Bradley, and Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) for their contributions to Regis College and its athletic department.

The Regis lead never fell below 33 points and grew as large as 43 points as the Pride cruised to a 94-53 victory over the Mountaineers. Regis won the rebounding battle, 53-38, and forced 29 SVC turnovers, leading to 30 Regis points, and they scored 54 points in the paint.

All 12 players that checked into the game for Regis registered at least one field goal, led by a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds from Brittany Stone. Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) added a double-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, while Emilee Marro joined them in double-figures with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Mikayla Murphy (Attleboro, Mass.) chipped in eight points, three rebounds, and a game-high six assists off the bench.

Amber Flagg finished the day with 22 points, knocking down 14-of-19 freethrows, to go with two rebounds and three assists. Sarah McDonald (Cohoes, N.Y.) added 13 points, while Amber Dow (Panton, Vt.) scored all 10 of her points in the second half and grabbed seven rebounds. Turquoia Johnson (Montgomery Village, Md.) also added seven rebounds off the bench.
