HAWKESWORTH'S ALL-AROUND CONTRIBUTION LEADS PRIDE TO CONFERENCE WIN

LEICESTER, Mass. – Regis College sophomore forward Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) had an all-around game scoring seven points, recording eight rebounds, while also adding career-highs in assists (8) and steals (6) as the Pride defeated New England Collegiate Conference foe Becker College 95-28 on Thursday evening. With the victory, the Crimson and Gold improve to 8-5 (6-0, NECC) on the year while the Hawks remain winless at 0-12, (0-6, NECC).

The Pride currently improved their winning streak in conference regular season contests to 60 straight games.

Regis started the first 10 minutes of the game on a 26-2 run. The streak was started by Hawkesworth who made a layup inside the paint just 57 seconds into the contest. About 30 second later, freshman guard Alycia Dery (Millville, Mass.) knotted up the score at two all after she converted her first shot attempt of the game for Becker. From there the Pride never looked back as they dominated the scoreboard putting up 48 points in the first half on 58.8% field goal shooting.

The field goal percentage production dipped in the second half to 48.8% as Regis took more shots during the second stanza. Three members of the Pride scored six points in the final half and Hawkesworth made four of her six thefts as well.

Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) paced the Pride with a game-high 19 points, matching teammate Amanda Hawkesworth with a game best eight boards. Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) came off the bench to score 12 points. Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) chipped in with 11 points, while Mikayla Murphy (Attleboro, Mass.) finished with ten points.

Every member of the Pride scored points during the victory.

Brooke Martel (Griswold, Conn.) led the Hawks with 16 points, going 12 of 16 from the charity stripe. Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) added six points in the loss.

Both teams return to action on Saturday, January 17. Becker will travel to Bay Path College at 1:00 p.m., while Regis returns home to host Elms College at 3:00 p.m.
