BROOKLINE, Mass.Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) scored a game-high 17 points and added three assists to lead the Pride to a 52-40 win over Newbury College on Saturday afternoon. The Pride (8-4, 5-0 NECC) have now won 41-straight regular season NECC contests.

Newbury jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage. First year guard Janetis Cardona (Southbridge, Mass.) picked the pocket of sophomore guard Taylor Bunkley (Carmel, N.Y.) before connecting with senior forward Katie Haney (Winchendon, Mass.) for a fast-break lay-up and the first points of the game. Moments later, sophomore guard Katelyn Roeser (Nashua, N.H.) put the Nighthawks up by four with lay-up of her own.

Knocking down a pair of free throws to put Regis on the board three minutes into the contest, Marro ignited a seven-minute, 13-0 run to take a commanding 13-5 lead before Roeser broke up the drought, draining her first of two treys in the game. However, the Pride responded with a 7-0 run to push their lead to 13 which they did not relinquish as they went into the locker room with a 27-14 lead.

When the teams returned to floor at the start of the second half, Cardona cut the deficit back down to single digits knocking down a pair of free throws but once again the Pride had an answer. Four minutes into the period, Marro took advantage of a Nighthawk error and sparked an 8-0 run with a lay-up.

The Nighthawks were resilient and were not going to back down from a fight. With less than 14 minutes remaining in regulation, Roeser knocked down one of two from the charity stripe to send the Nighthawks on a four-minute, 11-1 run to cut the Pride lead to seven.

Three minutes later, Cardona, who went a career best nine-for-11 from the free-throw line, made the contest a two-possession game following a pair of free-throws. However, it was a close as the Nighthawks got as the Pride went on a 9-1 to take a 49-35 lead with two minutes left and go on to the 52-20 victory.

Newbury drops to 2-9 following the loss and 2-4 in NECC action while Regis remains undefeated in conference play, improving to 6-0, and 9-4 overall.

The Pride return to action on Tuesday evening when they host Wheelock College at 6:00 p.m. in Weston, Mass.
