WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Regis College women's basketball team fell to host Catholic University, 66-49 in the CUA-Fairfield Inn Washington D.C. Holiday Tournament Championship on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pride, who led 23-22 at halftime, were neck and neck with the Cardinals throughout the opening 20 minutes of play. Regis outscored Catholic, 10-6 in the paint, 8-4 on second chances, and 4-0 on fast breaks in the first half.

In the opening minutes of the second half, both squads continued to trade baskets and the game was tied on three separate occassions. All-Tournament member Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.), who would finish with 15 points, three assists, and two steals, hit back-to-back free-throws to tie the game at 28 with 15:50.

Unfortunately for the Pride, CUA erupted for a 17-2 run over the next six minutes to take a commanding lead.

Thanks in large part to Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine), Regis was able to cut the lead to as few as 10 points by the 6:13 mark. Ramonas had 14 points, seven rebounds, and two assists for Regis.

Tournament MVP Emily Grabiak (Haddonfield, N.J.) would go on to hit 11 of her game-high 22 points in the closing minutes, however, and the Cardinals came away with the win.

Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) and Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) scored seven points apiece for Regis in the losing effort, while Hawkesworth also hauled in ten rebounds.

The Pride return to Weston, Mass. for a 1 p.m. non-conference game with Tufts on Saturday.
