WENHAM, MA. -- Regis broke a 32-all tie at halftime to pull away
to a 79-62 conference victory over Gordon in The Commonwealth Coast
Conference action. With the win, Regis moves to 13-7 overall,
and maintains a share of first place in the league with a record of
7-1. The Scots drop to 9-11, and are 2-6 in league play.
The Scots were sparked by senior guard Kim Levinsky who continued
her incredible 3-point shooting. After setting a school
record with 8 3-pointers in a game on Saturday, Levinsky tied her
record with an 8 of 12 performance from long range. In
addition, Levinsky broke a Gordon record for 3-pointers in one
season, as she moved her season total to 61.
Despite their sparkling outside shooting, Gordon was unable to stop
a balanced Regis attack. The Pride had 5 scorers in double
figures, led by Jessica Page and Stefanie Wozmak who scored 13
apiece. Sarah McNult had a double-double with 11 points and
13 rebounds.
Regis took command of the game early, going up 15-4 in the game's
first 8 minutes. However, Levinsky quickly heated up as she
drilled 6 treys in the first half, leaving the score knotted at
32.
After the break, the contest remained close. Regis did not
pull away until more than midway through the second half.
Leading 49-46 with 8:18 to go, the Pride put together a 14-4 run
over the next 4 minutes to open up a 13 point lead.
Heather DeKleine had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Scots, and
Rebecca Carroll added 17 points.
Gordon will be back in action on Saturday when they host Nichols at
1PM. Regis will host Endicott at 1PM on Saturday.
